Professional Goals, Hopes, and Dreams

    Early childhood educators are of great importance to provide high-quality learning and safe care environments for every young child, birth through age eight, as they broadly define how children will grow and develop in future times. Early childhood educators need to understand and value the cultures of children and their families. Valuing the diversity of children and their families in the classroom enhances the children's confidence to communicate and learn in the school (Kaiser and Rasminsky, 2020). However, early childhood programs are still facing some issues and challenges regarding quality and early childhood professionals. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot provide several hands-on training and onside inspections for early childhood teachers. This can prevent the teacher to update and maintain some of their new knowledge and practice to upkeep the high-quality care for all children. 

    Our trainer and I as a lead teacher try to provide virtual training and reading training for the caregivers. However, this technique is not very effective since the in-person training would help the caregivers practice, discuss, and ask questions more than reading a piece of paper. We just had a conference call from CYP headquarter this week, and they are working on the plan and strategies to keep our CYP programs excellent during the COVID-19. The policymakers and administrators will release new training plans and techniques for our trainers and lead teachers to support our care providers and children.

    As an early childhood professional, my main goal has not been changed: becoming a Navy CYP trainer who trains other caregivers to be psychologically and mentally ready to provide high-quality care for children. I will bring all the knowledge that I have gained through this master's program to them with in-depth knowledge and tips to border caregivers' practices, support children's development, and enhance the early childhood program (CYP). My personal and professional experience and practices have been grown and deepened a lot since the course began. From the course discussions that my classmates share their thoughts and understanding of early childhood, the professor, Dr. Russell, gave valuable advice about my colleagues' blogs that inspire and exchange knowledge. I feel very confident to become a Navy CYP trainer. I have gained expertise and practices to support early childhood educators, young children, and families of young children mentally and physically by providing knowledge, techniques, and child development resources.

    I absolutely agree with you that it very hard for our instructors to observe hands on application of training and knowledge. Our trainings are through ZOOM and usually we are muted throughout the training, however we can type into the chat box any questions. I do think that some teachers are bashful in asking questions amongst their peers for fear of what others might think. The in-person observations allow instructors to conference with the teacher confidentiality to add suggestions for improvement and for the teacher to ask question for further knowledge and clarification.     Great blog post! I agree with your perspective that early childhood educators must value and understand the importance of diverse families' cultures and traditions. The more we understand other cultures and traditions, the more we get closer to the families.

    I agree as a teacher that the trainings are not as effective as if we were actually in training. Doing virtual or zoom some times there will be technical diffculties. COVID-19 has changed the way we live, teach and interact with one another, but the goal is always the same. To provide an environment that families, teachers and children can succeed.
