Personal Childhood Web
I was growing up in Thailand, where my family members living in the same neighborhood. We always had dinner together, people would cook their own food from their home and then brought it to my aunt's house to eat together like we have thanksgiving everyday! And we still do this now as you can see from my last visit picture. When I was young I was the youngest one among my family members, so everybody loved to take care of me and also always gave me attention. It will take me more than a day to describe everyone, so I picked 4 people that I have closer relationships with.
1. My aunt, she was the one who took care of me since I was born because my both parents had to work full time, so she was the one that I always spent my day time with every day. She was so kind and let me do everything. She loved listening to US country music and drew any pictures that I asked. I loved my aunt as my second mom. And I just realized that this is why I am addicted to listening to music. She passed away when I was in 8th grad. And after that until now, I have always carried a headphone to listen to music as a comfort for me.
2. My mom, she always supported me with everything. I always spent time every morning with her in a kitchen. We cooked food a lot, although she always decided what to cook. I got the cooking skills from my mom. Now I rather cook my own food and different recipe than getting food from restaurants which helping me save lots of money.
3. My dad, we had never had long conversations together. He was always quite with me. But he shows his love through his actions. He always brought me and my mom on road trips. We always travel to other provinces around Thailand. And that has shaped me to be passionate about traveling to new places. I love seeing different people and places and exploring new cultures.
4. My cousin (the one on a green shirt from the group picture): She loved giving me extra money, even though, my mom did not like it because she said that I would be a spoiled child. However, my cousin had been my secret financial support for me until I graduate from college. Her actions taught me that I need at least 2 income resources. I have a full-time job now along with my stocks as well.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so if I could have that everyday I would be the happiest person around. Your top 5 are all different in their own way but together they have given you the best of them to make one great person. You seem to have a good handle on what it means to be a part of the greater whole.
ReplyDeleteI loved how you described your dad as being quite with you. I understand that kind of relationship. You are so lucky to have such a strong close family. It must be hard to be so far away from them.
ReplyDeleteHi Win, thank you so much for sharing your childhood web. It was really great getting to know more about you and your experiences growing up in Thailand. I am on the same page with you in being a very musically inclined person. I constantly have my earphones in when I am walking to and from different places. There is this sense of security listening to your favorite songs and maneuvering from place to place. It was great sharing ideas with you during this course. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
